Firmware Updates on Multiple Dash Cam Models

Dear BlackVue User,

We recently updated the firmware of a number of BlackVue dash cam models over the past week and this week. This post aims to clarify those updates.

What’s New:

The December 1 updates are about bug fixes and stability improvements, adding fixes for random hang/freezes and fixing an issue that prevented the dashcams to connect to hotspots when the hotspot’s SSID included empty space characters.

The December 9 updates focus on adding a way to disable Seamless Pairing (typically for fleet owners or anyone worried that someone with physical access to the dashcam could connect to it with the BlackVue App without entering the Wi-Fi password) as well as adding Korean language support for some of the models.
Note that we plan on adding the Seamless Pairing On/Off function to other models at a later time: DR900X-1CH/2CH, DR750-2CH LTE, DR750X LTE Plus, DR750X-3CH Plus.

Make sure to use the latest versions of the BlackVue Viewer and App for full compatibility with the new firmware.

How to upgrade:

Via computer:
Go to the DOWNLOADS page to access the latest firmware and installation instructions.
Via the BlackVue App (iOS/Android):
Download the firmware to your mobile device (Menu button  on the app’s Home screen > Firmware download) and do a Firmware Over-The-Air upgrade (BLACKVUE WI-FI > Gear icon  > Firmware upgrade (FOTA)).
Tip: make sure to download the firmware before you connect to your BlackVue in Wi-Fi (since the BlackVue won’t give you the internet connection necessary to download the firmware). If you are already connected to your BlackVue, then disconnect first, download the firmware, then connect to the BlackVue’s Wi-Fi again.
