Since 2015, BlackVue Cloud has set the standard for connected dashcams cloud services. It has been the go-to feature for users who need extra peace of mind when it comes to their vehicle.

BlackVue Cloud lets you see what your dashcam sees in real time from anywhere with the BlackVue app.

It is not just about watching over your car, though. BlackVue Cloud sends notifications to you phone if incidents happen while you are away from your vehicle.

Additionally, BlackVue Cloud lets you browse remotely the videos recorded locally on the dashcam’s microSD card. You can also back up important files to the Cloud.

With the latest major update that rolled out in May 2021, BlackVue introduced a new must-have feature for all Cloud-compatible BlackVue models from DR750S (2017) onwards.

First, a word about Parking Mode

Note that Live Event Upload can be set to work in various scenarios, not just in Parking Mode. However, for most users, Live Event Upload will be most useful in Parking Mode.

Parking Mode is a recording mode that protects your car while you are away. BlackVue lets you choose between two types:

• Motion + Impact Detection: dashcam records when it sees movement (Parking videos) + when the G-sensor senses an impact (Event videos).
• Time Lapse + Impact: dashcam records continuously at a low framerate (Parking videos) + when the G-sensor senses an impact (Event videos).

Motion Parking videos and Impact Event videos include a buffer of about 5 seconds leading to the impact. That way, in case of a hit-and-run, you get the proof that the other vehicle actually hit yours.

Whatever happens to your parked car, the video is recorded on the dashcam. However, what happens if things go from bad to worse? What happens if a thief breaks into your vehicle and unplugs or steals the dashcam?

Live Event Upload can make a big difference

With Live Event Upload, your dashcam can save Event videos in real time to the Cloud. Not only does it start saving to the Cloud soon after impact but it also includes the 5-second pre-impact footage. If you are still not sure what it means, let’s break down the steps with an example:

Let’s imagine a setup with a BlackVue DR750X-2CH IR (with front and interior-facing cameras). Your car is parked, with your BlackVue hardwired and Parking Mode active.

1. A thief breaks into your car: vibrations from the break-in are detected by the G-sensor (accelerometer) of the BlackVue dashcam.
   • The dashcam creates an Event file in full resolution (Full HD or 4K UHD, depending on the model) for each camera (front / rear / interior), which includes the pre-impact footage.
   • Simultaneously, the BlackVue records sub-streams, or lower-resolution versions of the videos.
2. As the Event starts, the BlackVue starts uploading both sub-streams to the Cloud, where they are saved in real time: that’s Live Event Upload.
3. Now, let’s imagine the thief notices your dashcam and disconnects it: the footage recorded up until that point will be safe in the Cloud!

Granted, car break-ins may not be the most common incidents. However, it’s easy to imagine how useful that feature is in more common cases as well, such as hit-and-runs.
